Our hands-on Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Training courses prepare your employees to operate with confidence and competence in diverse HAZMAT situations, ensuring that the highest public and environmental safety standards are met. All courses are certified by the California Specialized Training Institute  (CSTI) and are delivered by  CSTI Certified Instructors.

Hazardous Materials Awareness

The goal of this course is to train first responders to recognize a hazardous materials incident and implement actions to protect themselves and the public from harm.

Length: 4 hours

Hazardous Materials Operations Level (FRO)

This course is designed to train first responders to recognize a hazardous materials incident and implement actions to protect themselves, the public, the environment and nearby property while responding in a defensive fashion.

Length: 16 hours

Hazardous Materials Operations Level/Decontamination (FRO)

This course covers all the content of FRO with a strong emphasis on Decontamination.

Length: 18 hours

Hazardous Materials Industry Technician (HMIT)

This course will train individuals to respond to a hazardous materials incident at a specific workplace for the purposes of stopping the release. The terminal performance objectives for this course are:

  • Demonstrate the ability to classify, identify, and verify the presence of hazardous materials by using field survey instruments and equipment provided.
  • Demonstrate the ability to function within an assigned role in the Incident Command System (ICS) as specified by the employer’s emergency response plan.
  • Demonstrate the ability to select and use proper specialized chemical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by the employer in the applicable workplace.
  • Describe hazard identification and risk assessment techniques.

Prerequisite: Hazardous Materials Operations Level (FRO)

Incident Command System for Hazardous Materials Incidents (ICS)

The goal of this course is to provide an increased capability to assume the role of Incident Commander/IC (as defined by the OSHA Hazwoper regulation) during a Hazmat incident.
